PHNOM PENH, Feb 5, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia on Thursday reiterated its commitment to resolving boundary disputes with Thailand through peaceful means and international law, rejecting any attempt to alter borders by force.

Government spokesman Pen Bona told reporters the country’s position remained “consistent and unwavering,” stressing that Phnom Penh would not accept violations of sovereignty.

He said Cambodia would continue to pursue settlement in line with the December 27 joint declaration, which calls for outstanding issues to be referred to the Joint Boundary Commission and for survey and demarcation work to resume.

Bona reaffirmed Cambodia’s recognition of the frontier inherited from the Commission of Delimitation of the Boundary between Indochina and Siam, citing the principle of uti possidetis juris, Franco-Siamese treaties, and official maps.

He also confirmed Prime Minister Hun Manet had written to French President Emmanuel Macron, thanking France for its role in supporting calm along the frontier and requesting access to historical and technical documents from the protectorate era.

Separately, the Foreign Ministry said Cambodia had lodged a protest over Thai armed forces placing three containers in Preah Vihear province on February 3.

The government stressed its commitment to peaceful settlement, renunciation of force, and promotion of international law as the basis for regional stability.
