PHNOM PENH, Feb 5, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Immigration Department has highlighted the role of a digital reporting system in strengthening management of foreigners in the country, officials said Thursday.

Speaking at the Interior Ministry’s annual review conference, Immigration chief Sok Veasna outlined the department’s core mandates, including managing entry and exit at checkpoints, monitoring foreigners residing in Cambodia, and investigating illegal stays and related crimes.

He said the Foreigners Presence in Cambodia System (FPCS) allows property owners and managers to report foreign guests to police via a mobile app or website, as required under immigration law. The platform also provides accounts for law enforcement officers to monitor foreign presence in their jurisdictions.

“The system uses passport data scanning for fast and accurate entry, making it easier to track foreign residents,” Veasna said, adding that digital reporting improves compliance and efficiency.

The remarks came as Cambodia intensifies a crackdown on illegal stays, unlawful work and online scams. More than 1,000 foreign nationals were deported in the past week, officials said.

Immigration data show that in 2025 Cambodia deported over 13,000 foreigners from 66 countries, many linked to online fraud. Authorities said investigations, arrests and deportations will continue as enforcement measures expand.
