PHNOM PENH, Feb 3, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has stepped up deportations of foreign nationals linked to online scam operations, as authorities intensify a cross-border crackdown on cybercrime.

On February 1, the General Department of Immigration deported 175 Vietnamese nationals, including 39 women, through the Bavet International Border Gate after investigations confirmed their involvement in technology-based fraud.

The move followed a January 31 raid by Cambodian police at the Wan Cheng Casino compound in Svay Rieng Province, where 2,044 foreign suspects were detained across 22 buildings on suspicion of running online scam operations.

A day earlier, authorities deported 406 foreign nationals of nine nationalities in a related enforcement action, underscoring what officials described as a zero-tolerance approach to transnational cybercrime.

The operations were conducted under the direction of Interior Minister Sar Sokha and Immigration Director General Sok Veasna.

According to immigration reports, Cambodia deported more than 13,000 foreigners of 66 nationalities in 2025 for legal violations, many tied to online scams. Officials said investigations and deportations will continue as part of efforts to dismantle fraud networks operating inside the country.
