PHNOM PENH, January 30, 2026 (KPT) – Kantha Bopha Hospitals in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap examined and treated more than one million children free of charge in 2025, according to the hospital’s annual report.

The report said 1,071,637 paediatric cases were consulted and treated during the year, a 14 percent increase compared with 2024.

Inpatient care was provided for 233,243 children, including nearly 23,000 dengue fever patients. Services for mothers included 108,134 prenatal check ups and 25,736 childbirth deliveries.

The hospitals also performed 34,889 general surgical procedures and 1,163 congenital heart surgeries.

Operating costs totaled USD 46.18 million in 2025, with the institutions continuing their long standing policy of offering free medical care to children and pregnant women without discrimination.

Kantha Bopha Hospital in Phnom Penh resumed operations in 1992, while the Siem Reap branch, Jayavarman VII Hospital, opened in 1999.

Together they provide a wide range of specialised services, including emergency paediatric and neonatal care, obstetrics, oncology, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, immunisation and health education.

Pech Chandmony, honorary president of the Kantha Bopha Foundation, said the hospitals have saved countless lives, noting that some former patients have become doctors.

Cambodia’s First Lady has repeatedly urged philanthropists to support the foundation, calling donations for paediatric healthcare a meaningful contribution to the country’s future development.
