DPM Prak Sokhonn to Attend ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in the Philippines

PHNOM PENH, Jan 26, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will lead a delegation to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Cebu, the Philippines, on January 28–29, officials said Monday.

The invitation was extended by Philippine Foreign Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro.
Held under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”, the retreat will review progress since the 47th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia and outline priorities under the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship for 2026.

The meetings aim to advance ASEAN’s long term vision of building an integrated community by 2045.

Foreign ministers are expected to exchange views on ASEAN’s external relations, the bloc’s role in regional architecture, and pressing regional and international issues.

Discussions will include developments in Myanmar and follow up actions from the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute held on December 22, 2025.

On the sidelines, Prak Sokhonn is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with ASEAN counterparts to strengthen cooperation and advance mutual interests.

Officials said the visit reflects Cambodia’s commitment to ASEAN’s central role in promoting regional stability, integration and dialogue.

The Philippines, as ASEAN Chair for 2026, is responsible for setting the bloc’s agenda and advancing initiatives aligned with the ASEAN Community 2045 vision, which seeks a politically cohesive, economically resilient and socially integrated region.

Cambodia’s participation underscores its continued support for multilateral dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes, including its long standing border tensions with Thailand.
