Cambodia Highlights Trade and Growth Strategy at World Economic Forum in Davos

PHNOM PENH, Jan 26, 2026 (KPT) – Senior Cambodian officials outlined the country’s trade and economic priorities at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, held from January 19 to 23.

Sok Siphana, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and Chairman of the Trade Policy Advisory Board, led the delegation to the 56th WEF, which gathered nearly 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries, including over 70 heads of state and government.

Siphana joined high level discussions and bilateral talks with governments, international organisations and private sector leaders, focusing on trade, investment, economic cooperation and sustainable development.

He highlighted Cambodia’s strategy to strengthen energy security, expand e commerce, support small and medium sized enterprises and adopt advanced technologies to boost competitiveness and regional value chains.

On January 20, he took part in a session on “New Pathways for ASEAN Growth and Productivity” alongside Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, Commerce Minister Cham Nimul and international figures including OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann.

He also spoke at sessions on industrial policy and the ASEAN Power Grid.
On the sidelines, Siphana met Canadian and French trade officials to discuss Cambodia’s CPTPP bid and preparations for the Francophonie Summit, as well as leaders from the UAE, Ukraine, South Korea and Hong Kong.
