PHNOM PENH, Jan 21, 2026 (KPT) — China has pledged to continue working with Cambodia to suppress technology based scams, as the two countries reaffirmed close cooperation in security and crime prevention.

The commitment was made by Chinese ambassador Wang Wenbin during talks on January 20 with Chhay Sinarith, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and Chairman of the Secretariat of the Ad-hoc Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS).

Sinarith welcomed the partnership, saying joint efforts had produced “tangible results” in dismantling scam centres, prosecuting offenders and disrupting criminal networks.

He stressed Cambodia’s firm stance against such crimes and its readiness to coordinate with international partners to target groups at their source.

Ambassador Wang thanked Cambodian authorities for their cooperation in arresting and extraditing Chinese suspects, noting the collaboration reflected strong law enforcement ties between the two countries.

He praised Cambodia’s structured approach and expressed confidence that technology based scams could eventually be eradicated.

Both sides reviewed the current situation and discussed next steps for cooperation before concluding the meeting.
