PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 10, 2025) — Cambodian security forces have arrested 75 Thai nationals, including 48 women, in what authorities describe as a major crackdown on a cross border online scam network operating in Phnom Penh.

The arrests were made Dec. 9 during a coordinated operation at a site known as Amara Farm in Koh Krabei 1 Village, after investigators confirmed suspicions of large scale cyber fraud. Officers seized laptops, mobile phones and other materials believed to have been used in the scheme.

The operation was led by the Secretariat of the Committee for Counter Cyber Scam Operations in cooperation with the National Police Commissariat, Phnom Penh Unified Command, judicial authorities and other agencies. The site has been temporarily shut down.

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha said on Facebook that Cambodia will continue cracking down on cyber scams “without hesitation, for the safety of humanity.” He said the arrests show the National Police and relevant institutions are committed to enforcing the law and carrying out Prime Minister Hun Manet’s directives to suppress cybercrime.

Authorities said specialized units are working to identify additional perpetrators and masterminds behind the network. The suspects and evidence have been transferred to the National Police for further legal action. Officials stressed Cambodia’s nationwide campaign against cyber fraud will continue, with strict consequences for all offenders regardless of nationality.
