PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 10, 2025) — The United Kingdom has voiced deep concern over renewed clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border, urging both sides to show restraint and protect civilians as casualties mount.

In a statement released by the British Embassy in Phnom Penh, Seema Malhotra, the UK minister for the Indo Pacific, said it was “concerning to see renewed fighting along the Thai–Cambodia border and again the tragic loss of life, including civilians.”

She called on both governments to urgently de escalate and return to diplomatic dialogue, warning that continued hostilities pose severe risks to civilian populations.

Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence accused Thai forces of indiscriminate attacks since Dec. 7, including bombings without distinction of target or location, which it said violated Cambodia’s territorial integrity. Officials reported civilian deaths, injuries and the displacement of tens of thousands. Cambodia said its forces have exercised restraint while maintaining readiness to defend sovereignty.

Malhotra also advised British nationals to follow official travel guidance, noting the security situation remains unpredictable and potentially dangerous for foreign travelers.

The UK’s statement comes amid a wave of international reactions from the United States, Australia, France, Japan, Canada and UN agencies, all urging an end to violence and renewed commitment to peace agreements.
