Cambodia Reports Progress on Border Survey With Thailand
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 5, 2025) — Cambodia has reported progress in ongoing border survey work with Thailand, officials said Friday.
Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, said the Cambodia Liaison Group facilitated a briefing for the ASEAN Observer Team in Serei Saophoan City, Banteay Meanchey Province.
During the session, Prum Soeun Vathna, head of the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Survey Team from the State Secretariat for Border Affairs, presented updates on marking border posts No. 52–59 in Kamrieng Commune and Boeung Raing Commune, Kamrieng District, Battambang Province.
Officials said that from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3, joint survey teams conducted drone-based aerial photography to produce a photomap of the border section, covering about 6.4 kilometers, or 76% of the planned work.
Earlier, from Nov. 8 to 26, ground surveys were carried out along an 8.3-kilometer stretch, during which 166 temporary border markers were installed.
Socheata said the update was intended to inform the public and both national and international media about the ongoing demarcation efforts.
