Cambodia, Vietnam to Review Cooperation at 21st Joint Commission in Siem Reap

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 5, 2025) — Cambodia and Vietnam will co-chair the 21st meeting of their Joint Commission on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Siem Reap from Dec. 8–9, officials said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will lead the Cambodian side, while Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung will head his delegation.

The two-day meeting will assess progress since the 20th Joint Commission and set new measures to deepen cooperation across economic, cultural, scientific, and technological fields.

Officials said the talks aim to inject fresh momentum into bilateral relations built on political trust, good neighborliness, and a tradition of friendship. During his visit, Le Hoai Trung will also pay courtesy calls on senior Cambodian leaders.

Established to promote cooperation across multiple sectors and ensure the implementation of agreements, the Joint Commission serves as a platform for reviewing projects, addressing challenges, and planning joint initiatives.

Economic cooperation has been a central focus, including trade, investment, and infrastructure development. Cultural, scientific, and technological collaboration has also expanded, fostering people-to-people exchanges and innovation.

Cambodia and Vietnam share a long history of political and cultural ties, with the Joint Commission seen as a key mechanism for strengthening relations, promoting regional stability, and enhancing mutual trust between the two neighbors.
