Gen. Sar Thet: Cambodia’s Border Police, Military Coordinate to Defend Territory
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov. 24, 2025) — Cambodia’s border protection police are working closely with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to resist incursions and safeguard national sovereignty, officials said.
Gen. Sar Thet, commissioner general of the National Police, made the remarks during the closing ceremony of the 31st Special Guard Training Course and the opening of the 32nd course at the Special Guard Training Center.
“The border police forces at the frontline continue to coordinate with the military to defend the country’s territorial integrity,” Thet said. “The Gendarmerie Command has also contributed to critical missions aimed at protecting Cambodia’s independence and sovereignty.”
He emphasized that the National Police Headquarters and the Gendarmerie Command are indispensable partners, having cooperated effectively in the past, continuing their collaboration in the present and pledging to do so in the future.
Thet added that border police units are actively working with military forces stationed at the frontier, while the Gendarmerie Command fulfills key missions to safeguard Cambodia’s independence and territorial integrity.
The Cambodia–Thailand border has long been an area of tension, requiring heightened security and coordination between law enforcement and military forces. The Gendarmerie Command, under Maj. Gen. Hing Bunheang, is equipped with heavy and light weapons and has engaged in combat to counter incursions, maintaining positions along the 4th Military District frontline.
The Special Guard Training Courses aim to strengthen the skills of security personnel in border protection, tactical response and emergency operations.
