Pakistan pledges support to Cambodia in fight against cyber fraud
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.24,2025)— Pakistan’s ambassador to Cambodia has expressed his country’s readiness to support Cambodia in combating cyber fraud.

The pledge came during a Nov. 23 meeting between Chhay Sinarith, secretary-general of the Commission for Combating Online Scams, and Ambassador Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem.
Sinarith welcomed the announcement, noting more than 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and thanking Pakistan for its support in various fields.
He briefed the ambassador on Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to fight cybercrime, including the establishment of the commission under the direct leadership of the prime minister.
He said cyber fraud is a complex global problem often linked to human trafficking, extortion, financial scams, murder and money laundering. Addressing these threats,
He added, requires cooperation with partner countries to trace criminal networks, enforce regulations and secure financial systems.
Thaheem praised Cambodia’s efforts and thanked authorities for assisting in the rescue and return of Pakistani citizens in the past.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Cambodian institutions to prevent and combat cybercrime.
Both sides discussed next steps for collaboration and agreed to expand joint efforts to address cyber fraud more effectively.
