Cambodia Showcases Textile Sector Growth at Belt and Road Conference in Singapore

SINGAPORE (Nov. 21, 2025) — Cambodian Minister of Labor, and Vocational Traing Heng Sour highlighted the country’s textile sector growth during the 7th “Belt and Road Ideas for the Textile Sector” Conference in Singapore.

The three-day event, held Nov. 19–21 under the theme “Promoting the Textile Industry and Global Trade for a Future of Cooperation and Innovation,” brought together more than 300 participants, including government officials, diplomats, industry buyers, suppliers and researchers.

The conference focused on cooperation within the textile sector under the Belt and Road framework, with discussions on China-ASEAN collaboration, global supply chain integration, regional investment opportunities and partnership strategies.

In a keynote and interactive session titled “Win-Win Growth Model for China and ASEAN in the Textile Sector under the Belt and Road Framework,” Heng Sour outlined Cambodia’s progress in infrastructure development, workforce competitiveness, sustainable manufacturing and expanding investment opportunities in textiles and garments.

He also met with buyers, suppliers, raw material manufacturers and technical partners to promote Cambodia’s investment potential and government support for the sector. In addition, Heng Sour held talks with Professor Shen Bin of Donghua University in China to explore collaboration on educational and technical training initiatives.

Cambodia’s garment, footwear and travel goods exports reached $13.6 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, up more than 20 percent year-on-year. Garments accounted for $9.62 billion, footwear $1.73 billion, and travel goods $1.70 billion. Officials said the sector remains resilient despite external tariff pressures, underscoring its role as a key driver of Cambodia’s economy.
