Cambodia Wins World’s Best Rice Award for Seventh Time
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov,10,2025) — Cambodia has claimed the World’s Best Rice Award for the seventh time at the 2025 World Rice Conference, reinforcing its status as a leading producer of premium rice.
The announcement was made Friday during the closing ceremony of the three-day conference, hosted by The Rice Trader from Nov. 7–9 in Phnom Penh.
Cambodia first won the title in 2012 and repeated the achievement in 2013, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2024. This year’s win marks another milestone for the country’s agricultural sector and rice exporters.
The annual conference brings together global rice producers, traders and policy-makers to discuss market trends, quality standards and innovation. This year’s theme focused on resilience, quality and sustainability.
Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister, representing the Prime Minister, joined national and international dignitaries at the opening ceremony.
According to the Cambodia Rice Federation, the country exported 596,341 tonnes of milled rice in the first nine months of 2025, a 33.7% increase over the same period last year. Fragrant rice varieties accounted for about 77.65% of total exports.
Government investments in irrigation, milling technology and seed development have contributed to the sector’s growth in both volume and quality.
