SIEM REAP, Cambodia (Nov.08,2025) — Siem Reap province welcomed more than 368,000 visitors during Cambodia’s annual Water Festival celebrations, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.

From Nov. 4 to 6, the province hosted a series of events marking the Water Festival, Lantern Floating, and Moon Worship — known locally as Bon Om Touk, Bon Phchum Ben, and Ak Ambok — drawing large crowds from across the country. Total attendance reached 368,240, a 5.75% increase from the same period last year, when 348,229 visitors were recorded.

Domestic tourism saw a notable rise, with approximately 358,600 Cambodian nationals and Siem Reap residents participating in the festivities — a 7.04% increase from 2024. In contrast, international arrivals dropped sharply to 9,646, down 27.08% from 13,229 the previous year.

Officials attributed the surge in local turnout to a diverse lineup of cultural and recreational activities organized throughout the province. Highlights included the “Siem Reap, My Home” Friendship Boat Race, traditional drum performances, cultural exhibitions, food stalls, and floating markets.

Lantern-floating ceremonies and street food zones showcasing regional cuisine also featured prominently. Organizers said the events were designed to boost tourism and support Siem Reap’s post-pandemic economic recovery.

“The Water Festival is not only a cultural celebration but also an opportunity to support local businesses and attract visitors to Siem Reap,” a provincial tourism department spokesperson said.
