PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.03, 2025) — Cambodian authorities deported 34 Vietnamese nationals on Nov. 2 after determining they had illegally entered the country to engage in online scam operations, the General Department of Immigration said Monday.

The group, which included three women, was expelled via the Bavet International Border Checkpoint in Svay Rieng province. Prior to deportation, the individuals were transferred to the Department of Investigation and Legal Procedures by the Intelligence Department of the National Police.

Officials said the deportations are part of a broader crackdown on cybercrime. Between January and September, law enforcement conducted 48 operations targeting technology-based scams, resulting in 2,910 arrests. Of those, 168 cases were referred to court and 2,722 individuals were deported.

On Oct. 17, immigration authorities also deported 64 South Korean nationals, including five women, for alleged involvement in online fraud. They were returned to South Korea for further legal action.

The Commission for Combating Technology-Based Scams said the deportations reflect the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to enforcing laws against cyber fraud. Relevant ministries and agencies continue to implement strict measures to prevent and combat technology-related crimes.
