Six Schools Win 2025 Eco-School Award for Environmental Excellence

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct. 29, 2025) — The Ministry of Environment has recognized six schools as national winners of the 5th Eco-School Award 2025, honoring their achievements in environmental education and sustainable campus practices.

The award ceremony, held at the ministry’s headquarters, was presided over by Environment Minister Eang Sophalleth. The Eco-School Award encourages schools to implement the ministry’s Eco-School Guidelines, which promote clean, green, and sustainable learning environments across Cambodia.

Out of 35 participating schools from 17 provinces, six were selected as national winners—two high schools, two lower secondary schools, and two primary schools. The ministry presented two Gold Awards, two Silver Awards, and two Bronze Awards to the top-performing institutions.

An additional 29 schools received Certificates of Environmental Friendship. Letters of appreciation were also awarded to individuals and organizations from the private sector, civil society, and environmental advocacy groups for their contributions to national environmental efforts.

Minister Sophalleth congratulated the winners and urged all schools to continue striving for environmental excellence.

He emphasized the importance of collective action guided by the ministry’s three strategic pillars: cleanliness, greenness, and sustainability.

Launched in 2017, the Eco-School competition is held biennially and includes a four-stage evaluation process.
