Zhao Leji Hails Cambodia-China Ties as Model of Ironclad Cooperation
BEIJING,China (Oct.16, 2025) — China is prepared to work closely with Cambodia to implement key agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders and to deepen cooperation under the “Diamond Hexagon” framework, a senior Chinese official said.

During a meeting with Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, underscored the importance of strengthening political trust, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, enhancing people-to-people exchanges, and boosting law enforcement and multilateral collaboration.
Zhao also expressed China’s readiness to deepen legislative and supervisory exchanges with Cambodia’s National Assembly, saying stronger parliamentary cooperation would provide legal support for broader bilateral ties.
Sudary, the first woman to lead Cambodia’s legislature, praised China’s leadership in promoting women’s roles in governance and development.
“China’s progress in promoting gender equality stands as an inspiration to the world,” she said. “Cambodia shares the same vision of empowering women as agents of peace, prosperity and progress.”
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Cambodia-China relations across all sectors and at all levels, with a particular focus on implementing agreements reached during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Cambodia in April 2025.
