PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.07,2025) — Health Minister Chheang Ra on Monday urged continued prioritization of patient safety and disease prevention across all levels of Cambodia’s hospital system, especially in high-risk areas such as border regions and flood-affected zones.

Ra chaired the Ministry of Health’s monthly leadership meeting at its headquarters in Phnom Penh. The session was attended by senior ministry officials, including secretaries and undersecretaries of state, advisors, directors-general, and department heads. Provincial health directors joined remotely via Zoom.

The meeting reviewed recent progress and outlined strategic goals for the coming period. Ra emphasized the need for vigilance, preparedness, and close monitoring to ensure timely responses to public health threats.

With the rainy season underway, the minister called for increased health education in flood-prone communities. He encouraged the use of mosquito nets to prevent dengue and other vector-borne diseases, warned against contact with venomous animals, and promoted preventive health practices.

Ra also directed the National Center for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control to ramp up mosquito spraying and expand public awareness campaigns to curb dengue transmission.

Hospitals and health departments nationwide were instructed to maintain high readiness, strengthen coordination, and ensure uninterrupted communication ahead of upcoming national festivals.

In closing, Ra called on health leaders to reinforce efforts in capacity building, pharmaceutical oversight, collaboration with development partners, and disaster response.
