PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.26, 2025) — Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border disputes through peaceful dialogue and international law, amid ongoing tensions with Thailand.

Speaking during a plenary Cabinet meeting, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasized that Cambodia’s history of conflict has shown that violence cannot deliver lasting peace.

“Cambodia’s long and painful experience with war has shown that conflicts cannot be resolved through violence, but only through peaceful negotiations,” he said.

The Prime Minister praised the armed forces for their defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing gratitude to all ministries, institutions, local authorities, and citizens—both at home and abroad—for their continued support of frontline military and police personnel.

Addressing the detention of 18 Cambodian soldiers currently held in Thailand, Samdech Thipadei assured the public that the government is actively working to secure their release.

“We continue to use all available mechanisms to push for the release of our soldiers and ensure their reunion with their families in the near future,” he said.

His remarks come amid intensified diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute, following recent clashes. The Prime Minister’s stance reinforces Cambodia’s broader commitment to regional stability, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution.
