Cambodia Denies Thai Allegations of Border Disturbances, Reaffirms Commitment to Ceasefire
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.25, 2025) — The Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia on Thursday rejected reports from the Royal Thai Army and Thai media alleging that Cambodian forces caused overnight disturbances in Army Area 2 along the shared border.

According to a statement issued by ministry spokeswoman Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Cambodian troops did not provoke or violate the ceasefire agreement, contrary to claims of gunfire, explosions, and movement near barbed wire areas.
The ministry cited frontline reports confirming that gunfire was heard from the Thai side at four separate times on Sept. 25: at 2:57 a.m., 5:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m., and 7:00 a.m.
“The Cambodian armed forces remain fully committed to respecting and implementing the ceasefire agreement with firm and resolute determination,” the statement read.

Officials emphasized that Cambodia continues to uphold peaceful cooperation, particularly through the Cambodia–Thailand frontline communication teams. These teams regularly exchange information to prevent misunderstandings and maintain stability along the border.
The ministry called on both sides to avoid escalating tensions and reaffirmed Cambodia’s dedication to resolving disputes through dialogue and mutual respect.
