Vocational Skills Competition Promotes Training Quality, Regional Cooperation

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.12, 2025) — Cambodia’s labor minister praised the 2025 World Vocational College Skills Competition for advancing vocational education and fostering regional cooperation among Southeast Asian nations.

Minister of Labour and Vocational Training Heng Sour said the event provided a platform for students and colleges to showcase technical skills, promote research and creativity, and strengthen practical training.

He made the remarks during the competition’s closing ceremony on Sept. 11 at the University of Technology and Science of Cambodia-China in Phnom Penh.
“This competition helps attract young people to technical and creative fields, while encouraging cultural exchange and cooperation,” Sour said.

He highlighted the relevance of the competition’s focus areas — intelligent equipment, commerce and trade, and next-generation information technology — noting their importance to infrastructure development and national economic growth.

The World Vocational College Skills Competition was launched in 2008 to promote innovation, international exchange and collaboration among vocational students. This year’s regional event included participants from Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.
