PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept. 9, 2025) — Prime Minister Hun Manet has directed Phnom Penh City Hall to prepare 597 free buses to transport citizens from the capital to their hometowns during the Pchum Ben Festival, which runs from Sept. 20 to 25.

Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng said the city administration has already mobilized the buses to serve both daily public transportation and festival-related travel.

Of the total, 100 buses will operate within Phnom Penh, including service to Techo International Airport, while 497 buses will be deployed to carry passengers to provincial destinations.

The initiative aims to ease travel for residents returning home to observe Pchum Ben, one of Cambodia’s most significant religious holidays.
In 2024, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet issued a similar directive, ordering nearly 500 buses to provide free transportation during the festival period.
