CPPCC: China Will Continue to Unwaveringly Support Cambodia
(Beijing, China)-, August 31, 2025, Prime Minister Hun Manet hold talk with Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on the occasion of attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Tianjin, China.

During the meeting, Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference warmly welcomed Prime Minister and the Cambodian government delegation. He emphasized that the presence of PM Hun Manet and his delegation demonstrated deep attention and commitment to strengthening the long-standing traditional relations between the two countries.
Wang Huning added that the Cambodia-China relationship has withstood the test of changing international circumstances and has become increasingly strong and stable. He added that during the bilateral meeting on August 30, Chinese President Xi Jinping laid out important directions to further deepen China-Cambodia relations. In this context, China will continue to unwaveringly support to Cambodia.
In response, PM Hun Manet reaffirmed that Cambodia-China relations have deep historical roots and have been continuously promoted and strengthened by successive generations of leaders. PM highlighted that the recent state visit by President Xi Jinping to Cambodia in April further deepened ties between the two nations.
PM Hun Manet also expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their ongoing support for Cambodia, particularly in enhancing the country’s development capacity and moving toward self-reliance, as well as in defending its national sovereignty.
Regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, PM Hun Manet requested China’s support in encouraging both sides to avoid the use of military force to resolve unresolved border issues—especially in areas with civilian populations.
PM Hun Manet encouraged both sides to resolve border issues peacefully through existing border mechanisms, specifically the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Border Commission (JBC), based on established bilateral agreements, relevant treaties, and international law.
On the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, China expressed support for the ceasefire agreement between Cambodian and Thai troops and also supported Malaysia’s role in mediating the ceasefire. China further encouraged the restoration of normal relations between Cambodia and Thailand in the near future.
Before concluding, Wang Huning chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference stressed that China will continue to closely monitor the Cambodia-Thailand border situation and will continue its efforts to help resolve the issue.
