Cambodia, Thailand Reaffirm Ceasefire Commitment in Border Committee Meeting

SA KAEO, Thailand (Aug. 22, 2025) — Military delegations from Cambodia and Thailand concluded an extraordinary meeting of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) on Friday, reaffirming their commitment to the ceasefire agreement and a 13-point consensus aimed at easing tensions along the shared border.

The meeting, held in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province, brought together Cambodia’s 5th Military Region, led by Lt. Gen. Ek Sam Aun, and Thailand’s 1st Military Region, led by Lt. Gen. Amarit Boonsuya. Both commanders served as co-chairmen of the session.

The RBC meeting concluded at 11:15 a.m., with both sides pledging to strengthen bilateral cooperation and restore normalcy in affected border areas. Delegates also agreed to convene the next RBC meeting within one month or at a mutually convenient time, with Cambodia designated as the host.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the outcome in a statement posted to his official social media account, praising the positive results of the meeting between the two military regions.

The Ministry of National Defense said the meeting reflects ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability along the Cambodia-Thailand frontier.
