PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Aug. 22, 2025) — A delegation of foreign diplomats and representatives of international missions based in Cambodia will begin a two-day observation visit to the Cambodia-Thailand border on Thursday to assess post-ceasefire developments, officials said.

The visit, organized by Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn. According to ministry spokesperson Nong Sakal, the delegation includes 63 participants from embassies and United Nations agencies with offices in Cambodia and abroad.

The group will inspect areas in Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap provinces affected by recent armed clashes. The purpose of the visit is to observe the humanitarian impact of the conflict, including displacement and damage to civilian infrastructure, and to monitor the evolving situation since the ceasefire agreement took effect on July 28.

Cambodian officials have expressed concern over continued violations along the border, allegedly committed by Thai military forces, which they say threaten the ceasefire’s implementation.

This marks the second such diplomatic field visit led by Prak Sokhonn. Earlier this month, he escorted representatives from 22 foreign embassies and four international organizations to Oddar Meanchey province, where they visited a site reportedly targeted by an unexploded MK-84 bomb dropped from a Thai F-16 fighter jet.
