PHNOM PENH, March 16, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia showcased its cultural heritage and cuisine during Francophonie Week 2026 at the French Institute in Tokyo, officials said Monday.

Led by Ambassador Chum Sounry, the Cambodian embassy joined representatives from other Francophone countries in presenting traditions, handicrafts and tourism attractions to Japanese visitors and the international community.

The booth featured artworks, promotional materials and a video highlighting Cambodia’s preparation to host the Francophonie Summit in November.

As part of the event, the Cambodian dish Lok Lak was served at the institute’s restaurant, offering guests a taste of the country’s cuisine.

Embassy officials said the inclusion of Cambodian food alongside cultural displays underscored the diversity of the Francophone world.

Organized by the Council for the Promotion of Francophonie in Japan with support from embassies and institutions of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, the event aimed to strengthen cultural exchange and highlight the richness of Francophone nations.

Officials said Cambodia’s participation reflects its commitment to cultural diplomacy, the promotion of the French language, and closer ties with Japan and other Francophone partners.
