Myanmar Envoy Vows Closer Military Cooperation With Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Mar. 26, 2026 (KPT) — Myanmar’s newly appointed military attaché to Cambodia, Brigadier General Sor Von, has pledged to deepen defense ties during talks with Cambodian army chief Vong Pisen.
The commitment was made at a courtesy meeting on March 25 at the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces headquarters in Phnom Penh.
Gen Vong Pisen congratulated Sor Von on his appointment and underlined what he called the long standing relationship between the two militaries.
He urged stronger cooperation through high level visits, training programs and information sharing, particularly on counter terrorism and transnational crime.
Sor Von thanked his counterpart and said he would work to make cooperation “more effective and closer” during his tenure.
The envoy also expressed appreciation for Cambodia’s scholarships to Myanmar military personnel at the National Defence University.
At the close of the meeting, Vong Pisen asked Sor Von to convey his regards to Min Aung Hlaing, head of Myanmar’s military government.
