PHNOM PENH, April 7, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Senate president Samdech Techo Hun Sen has congratulated Myanmar’s newly elected president Min Aung Hlaing, following his appointment earlier this month.
In a letter dated April 6, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who is also acting head of state, extended “sincere congratulations” after Myanmar’s parliament elected Min Aung Hlaing as president on April 3.
He highlighted what he described as growing relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar, rooted in shared cultural and religious ties as well as mutual respect.
Samdech Techo expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to strengthen under Min Aung Hlaing’s tenure, bringing tangible benefits to both nations.
He said he looked forward to working closely with his Myanmar counterpart to further enhance cooperation and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
Min Aung Hlaing, who has led Myanmar’s military government in recent years, was elected president by parliament last week.
