Mekong-Lancang fun run highlights regional cooperation, social impact
PHNOM PENH, Mar 29, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia underscored regional solidarity and social impact on Saturday as the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Week Fun Run brought together diplomats, officials and the public along the Mekong River.
The event, presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, marked the 10th anniversary of the MLC and featured a photo exhibition showcasing a decade of collaboration among Mekong-Lancang countries.

Around 600 participants — including Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Wenbin, ambassadors, government officials and members of the public — joined the run in Phnom Penh.
Sokhonn hailed the Mekong River as a symbol of friendship and resilience, stressing the shared responsibility to protect and sustainably manage the vital resource. He said the cooperation framework is entering a “Golden Decade” under the theme Jointly Building Mekong-Lancang Cooperation 2.0, with priorities including water resource management, regional connectivity, green development, digital transformation and inclusive growth.
Beyond its diplomatic significance, the event raised USD 11,555 for the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation to support pediatric healthcare services.
