PHNOM PENH, March 31, 2026 (KPT)— Cambodia and Vietnam have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during talks between senior foreign affairs officials in Phnom Penh.

Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn received Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on March 30.

Sokhonn praised what he called the continued growth of “excellent bilateral relations” and congratulated Vietnam on the successful conduct of its general election earlier this month.

Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining regular high-level exchanges, citing the February state visit to Cambodia by To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The meeting comes as the two countries prepare to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027. Cuong said Vietnam would work closely with Cambodia to organise commemorative activities.

Officials noted progress in cooperation across defence, trade, investment, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges, and pledged to expand collaboration to deliver practical benefits. Sokhonn also briefed the Vietnamese side on developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
