PHNOM PENH, April 4, 2026 (KPT) – Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie has voiced continued support for Cambodia’s tourism sector and cultural preservation, following talks with Tourism Minister Huot Hak on strengthening cooperation.

The meeting, held in Phnom Penh, focused on promoting Cambodia as a global tourist destination while safeguarding its cultural and environmental assets.

Officials said discussions covered ways to raise the country’s international profile through tourism promotion, community-based initiatives, and support for the arts and social development. Conservation of natural resources was also highlighted as a priority.

Jolie, who serves as president of the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation (MJP), has long been involved in humanitarian and development work in Cambodia, including projects in conservation, education, healthcare, and community support.

She has also played a role in boosting Cambodia’s global visibility through cinema, with films such as First They Killed My Father and Tomb Raider partly shot in the country.

The Tourism Ministry said the talks underscored Cambodia’s commitment to balancing economic growth with heritage protection, noting that partnerships with international figures like Jolie help amplify the country’s message abroad.

Officials added that the government will continue to encourage initiatives that combine tourism development with cultural identity and environmental sustainability, aiming to attract visitors while preserving Cambodia’s rich legacy.
