LYON, April 8, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held a series of informal meetings with international leaders and organisations on the sidelines of the One Health Summit in Lyon, officials said Tuesday.

Ahead of the summit’s opening, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet met Akihiko Nishio of the World Bank to discuss development cooperation.

He also held separate talks with Khaled El-Enany of UNESCO and Botswana’s Prime Minister Duma Gideon Boko.

Officials said the meetings aimed to strengthen ties and expand collaboration across multiple sectors.

Government spokesman Pen Bona confirmed Samdech Thipadei is on an official visit to France, where he is expected to hold talks with President Emmanuel Macron.

Discussions will focus on bilateral relations and international issues, including preparations for the Francophonie Summit, which Phnom Penh will host later this year.

Prime Minister’s spokesman Meas Sophorn said the One Health Summit is the ninth in the One Planet Summit series, a flagship initiative of France during its G7 presidency.

The event brings together heads of government, scientists, development banks and international organisations to address the interconnected health of humans, animals and ecosystems.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, accompanied by his wife Pich Chanmony, is leading a high-level Cambodian delegation.

He is also expected to hold further bilateral meetings with French officials and other global leaders before returning to Cambodia on April 9.
