Cambodia Facilitates Military Attachés’ Visit to Border After Ceasefire

PHNOM PENH, April 28, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s defence ministry has facilitated a visit by foreign military representatives to areas along the Cambodia–Thailand border following the implementation of a ceasefire, officials said Tuesday.

Maly Socheata, spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, said members of the Military Attachés Corps in Phnom Penh were taken to border provinces early on April 28.

The ministry said the move was intended to inform the public and international media of developments on the ground.

The visit comes after recent tensions along the frontier and a ceasefire agreed between the two countries.

Cambodia reiterated that it remains committed to resolving disputes peacefully in line with international law, the UN Charter and ASEAN principles, opposing the threat or use of force.

The ministry said it was seeking a “just, impartial and lasting solution” to ensure long term peace and stability for communities on both sides of the border.

ASEAN Chair, Philippine Foreign Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, reaffirmed support for the ASEAN Observer Team to monitor the border, urging Cambodia and Thailand to keep dialogue active for regional stability.

Cambodia’s foreign ministry has recently lodged a formal protest against what it described as illegal Thai military activities along disputed sections of the frontier.

Government spokesman Pen Bona said Phnom Penh was closely monitoring developments while maintaining diplomatic protests against what it calls violations of sovereignty.
