PHNOM PENH, April 29, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has reiterated its firm stance on recognizing the established international border with Thailand, stressing it will not accept any changes imposed by force.

Government spokesman Pen Bona told reporters Wednesday that Phnom Penh remains committed to defending the Cambodia–Thailand boundary as defined by the Indochina Siam Boundary Commission.

He said Cambodia respects international law, including the principle of the inviolability of borders, and upholds the Franco Siamese treaties, maps and demarcation records accepted by both countries.

Bona added that the government is actively pursuing diplomatic efforts through its overseas missions to address the issue. He highlighted recent engagements by Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, who represented Cambodia at the ASEAN EU Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Brunei.

Sokhonn underscored the importance of adhering to international law and the UN Charter, including respect for sovereignty, refraining from the use of force and resolving disputes peacefully.

He also expressed appreciation to ASEAN and the European Union for supporting the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand and ongoing efforts toward a peaceful resolution.

Domestically, the government continues to prioritize diplomatic activities aimed at safeguarding territorial integrity.

On April 28, the Ministry of National Defence facilitated a visit by the Military Attaché Coordination Group, which observed conditions in Pursat province, where Cambodian authorities report Thai troops remain present and have installed barbed wire and shipping containers.
