PHNOM PENH, May 19, 2026 (KPT) — Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Tuesday received the credentials of three newly appointed ambassadors during separate ceremonies at the Senate Building in Phnom Penh, the Senate spokesman said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed Mesut Özcan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye, congratulating him on his appointment and noting his prompt arrival reflected the importance both countries attach to ties.

Özcan pledged to deepen cooperation, while Hun Sen highlighted direct flights and human resource support as areas of progress, adding there remained further potential to expand relations.

In a separate audience, Samdech Techo Hun Sen received Magadalini Nicolaou, Ambassador of Greece, who becomes the first female envoy from Athens to Cambodia.

She underscored shared cultural legacies as ancient civilisations, while Hun Sen praised Greece’s philosophical heritage and said cooperation could expand in trade and economic fields.

Nicolaou said she was honoured to assume the post and committed to strengthening bilateral relations.

Samdech Techo also received Franck E. W. Adjagba, Ambassador of Benin, recalling his 1983 visit when Benin welcomed him despite Cambodia facing sanctions.

He invited Benin’s leadership to attend Cambodia’s Francophonie Summit in November, expressing hope the event would further reinforce bilateral ties and longstanding friendship.
