PHNOM PENH, June 12, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is preparing to host an international conference on combating online scams, bringing together governments, law enforcement agencies and international organizations to strengthen cooperation against one of the fastest‑growing forms of transnational crime.

The planned conference, expected in the coming months, will serve as a platform for countries to exchange experiences, discuss emerging threats and explore coordinated strategies to dismantle scam networks that increasingly operate across borders.

Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith, Head of the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams, said Cambodia would invite a wide range of governments and international partners.

“The conference will provide an opportunity to share experiences and strengthen cooperation in addressing online scam operations, which have become an increasingly complex challenge worldwide,” he said.

Sinarith stressed that Cambodia’s campaign reflects strong political commitment at the highest level, with authorities working to identify, suppress and eliminate organized criminal groups operating through digital platforms.

He pointed to major achievements in recent operations coordinated under Prime Minister Hun Manet’s leadership, including dismantling scam compounds and enforcing the new Law on Combating Online Scams.

Cambodia says intensified enforcement has disrupted criminal networks and reinforced Cambodia’s broader push to strengthen cybersecurity and public safety.

Preparations for the conference are under way, with invitations expected to be extended to numerous countries and organizations in the coming weeks.
