PHNOM PENH, June 1, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and World Vision International have reaffirmed their long-standing partnership to strengthen education, child protection, and community development during the organization’s 56th anniversary celebration in the country, officials said Monday.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron praised World Vision’s decades of contributions to expanding access to schooling, improving child welfare, healthcare, and rural development across Cambodia.

He noted that the organization’s work has been instrumental in helping vulnerable children and families overcome poverty and build resilience.

The ceremony, held under the theme “A Year of Gratitude, Resilience, and Hope,” brought together government officials, development partners, diplomats, and private sector representatives. Participants highlighted achievements in supporting disadvantaged communities, while also reaffirming commitments to future collaboration.

The Education Ministry emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with development partners to strengthen school infrastructure, improve literacy and life skills, promote inclusive education, and expand child protection initiatives. Officials said these efforts are critical to ensuring that children in remote and marginalized areas have equal opportunities to learn and thrive.

Naron also acknowledged World Vision’s humanitarian support during recent border tensions, including assistance for temporary classrooms, educational supplies, and programs that helped children continue their studies safely despite disruptions.

According to officials, the partnership aligns with Cambodia’s broader education reform agenda and sustainable development goals, particularly efforts to improve human capital, strengthen school governance, and create better opportunities for youth.

World Vision Cambodia continues to work closely with ministries, local authorities, schools, and communities nationwide to support education quality, community participation, and long-term child development programs. Its leaders said the organization remains committed to building stronger, more resilient communities for future generations.
