Cambodia Rejects Thai Border Moves, Urges Respect for Ceasefire
PHNOM PENH, March 22, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia on Sunday rejected what it called unilateral actions by Thai authorities along the frontier, urging Bangkok to respect a ceasefire agreement and resolve disputes through bilateral mechanisms.
Government spokesman Pen Bona said Phnom Penh had lodged formal protests over Thai activities in areas it considers under “illegal occupation,” including land measurements in Choak Chai village, O’Beichoan commune, O’Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, between border markers 46 and 47.
“The Royal Government of Cambodia does not recognize any border demarcation or territorial claims made unilaterally by Thailand,” Pen Bona told reporters, stressing Cambodia’s legal rights under international law and historical treaties.
Cambodia called on Thailand to adhere to the December 27 joint statement and expedite resolution of outstanding issues through the Joint Boundary Commission.
Cambodia reaffirmed it would not accept any border changes imposed by force, underscoring its stance on sovereignty and territorial integrity.
