Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Meets CIMIC Group in Sydney to Discuss Investment Expansion
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Aug. 25, 2025) — Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol met Monday with representatives of Australia’s CIMIC Group, led by board member Robert Seidler, to discuss the company’s ongoing investment activities and future expansion plans in Cambodia.

The meeting, held in Sydney, included participation from Cambodia’s ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Australia’s ambassador to Cambodia, and senior officials from the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation. Several members of Cambodia’s Oknha Association also attended.
Seidler expressed appreciation to Sun for facilitating the meeting and provided updates on CIMIC’s business operations in Cambodia. He highlighted the company’s confidence in the Cambodian government’s leadership and reaffirmed its intention to expand investment based on favorable conditions and improved regulatory frameworks.

CIMIC praised Cambodia’s efforts to enhance its investment climate, citing streamlined procedures and operational ease for foreign investors. Seidler also noted the country’s competitive and adaptable workforce, which he said was well-positioned to absorb new training and meet evolving industry demands.
During the meeting, Sun outlined Cambodia’s investment promotion policies and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to attracting foreign capital and supporting private sector growth. Before concluding, Seidler thanked the Cambodian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, for its strong support of private enterprise and reiterated CIMIC’s interest in contributing to Cambodia’s economic development through expanded investment.
