PHNOM PENH, Mar. 4 (KPT) – Cambodia and Singapore have pledged to strengthen economic and political cooperation, with both sides committing to raise bilateral trade to US$10 billion in the coming years, as Singapore’s ambassador concluded her mission in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen received Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng on Wednesday at the Senate’s Samdech Vibol Samaki Palace, conferring on her the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sahametrei in recognition of her five year tenure.

Samdech Techo praised the ambassador’s role in advancing ties and said the next phase of cooperation would focus on expanding trade, investment and diplomatic engagement.

He noted that bilateral trade has already surpassed US$5 billion and expressed hope that both governments would work to double that figure.

Ambassador Teo thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for the honour and pledged that Singapore would continue to build on the progress achieved, highlighting growing cooperation in trade and political dialogue.

The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to translate diplomatic goodwill into concrete initiatives across economic and strategic sectors.
