PM Hun Manet Holds Talks with Senior EU and Belgian Leaders
Brussels, Feb 25, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met senior European and Belgian leaders in Brussels on Tuesday as part of a wider diplomatic mission to Europe.
Hun Manet held talks with Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission, and separately met Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.
The meetings followed his recent trip to Washington, D.C., where he attended a peace-related inauguration event at the invitation of US President Donald Trump.
According to Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European tour also includes stops in Geneva and Brussels for meetings with senior officials and stakeholders aimed at strengthening partnerships and expanding cooperation.
Government spokesman Pen Bona said Hun Manet has undertaken a series of high-level meetings in the US and Europe.
In Geneva, he met UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UN human rights chief Volker Türk, UNGA president Annalena Baerbock, and ICRC vice-president Gilles Carbonnier, as well as Timor-Leste’s president.
The Cambodia–Thailand border issue featured prominently in those discussions. Hun Manet called for full implementation of bilateral agreements, peaceful resolution in line with international law, and safe return of displaced civilians.
Cambodia reiterated its legal position based on international law, the principle of uti possidetis juris, and historical treaties and boundary records.
