Cambodia Courts More U.S. Investment As American Business Leaders Explore New Opportunities

PHNOM PENH, July 21, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is stepping up efforts to attract greater U.S. investment as Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen met Tuesday with a delegation of leading American companies exploring business opportunities in the country.

The delegation was led by Brian D. McFeeters, President and CEO of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), which represents more than 180 major American firms. Samdech Techo expressed hope that more U.S. businesses would invest in Cambodia, noting that existing American investment has focused on logistics, healthcare, education and technology—sectors aligned with Cambodia’s innovation and modernization goals.

McFeeters said many member companies are increasingly interested in expanding across Southeast Asia, particularly in Cambodia, where bilateral relations continue to strengthen. The delegation included representatives from Ford Motor Company, SC Johnson and The Coca‑Cola Company. He said the visit was aimed at exploring new investment opportunities and expanding existing operations.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for American investors, describing trade and investment as the cornerstone of bilateral ties. Cambodia’s trade with the United States reached US$13.14 billion in 2025, up 29% from the previous year, with exports totaling US$12.73 billion. Imports from the U.S. rose to US$417 million.

In the first half of 2026, Cambodia’s exports to the United States reached US$7 billion, underscoring America’s role as Cambodia’s largest export market. Officials said Phnom Penh now aims to convert strong trade ties into greater American investment, particularly in high‑value industries that can support Cambodia’s economic transformation.
