PHNOM PENH, Feb. 22, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and India have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening tourism and investment ties, with plans to establish a direct flight connection between Siem Reap province and Bengaluru, officials said Sunday.

During a courtesy call at Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism, Minister Huot Hak met with Karthik Tallam, Honorary Consul of Cambodia in Bengaluru, Karnataka state, Republic of India, to discuss ways to deepen cooperation in tourism and investment.

Tallam pledged to continue promoting Cambodia’s tourism potential and investment opportunities among Indian investors and citizens, particularly those in Bengaluru and areas under the jurisdiction of the Honorary Consulate.

He also emphasized the importance of enhancing tourism cooperation between Siem Reap and Karnataka under the framework of the Siem Reap–Karnataka Partnership Agreement signed in September 2025.

Both sides highlighted joint efforts to encourage Indian carrier Indigo Airlines to operate direct flights between Siem Reap and Bengaluru, aiming to boost the number of Indian tourists visiting Cambodia.

Minister Hak expressed appreciation for Tallam’s active role in promoting Cambodia’s tourism and investment opportunities in India. He noted that such initiatives have already helped attract more Indian visitors and investors to Cambodia.

Hak also urged the Honorary Consul to continue disseminating accurate information about Cambodia’s political stability, security, and rapid socio-economic development to Indian citizens and investors, while helping to counter misinformation. He stressed that Cambodia remains a safe and secure destination for international tourists.
