PHNOM PENH, Jan 19, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s air travel rebounded strongly in 2025, with nearly seven million passengers passing through the country’s airports, a 12 percent increase from the previous year, the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) said Monday.

Official figures show Cambodia handled 64,821 two‑way flights last year, up 11 percent, while passenger traffic reached 6,988,259. Air cargo also rose 21 percent to 93,889 tons.

SSCA spokesperson Sinn Chansereyvutha said the growth was driven by a recovery in outbound Chinese tourism, sustained demand from Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Japan, and the easing of travel restrictions alongside expanded airline capacity.

He noted that the restoration and expansion of airline operations boosted passenger numbers and improved international connectivity. Cambodia is now linked to destinations in eight countries, including China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Japan.

The aviation sector entered a new phase with the opening of Techo International Airport in September 2025. Authorities say the new facility, together with expanding routes, will support Cambodia’s ambition to become a regional aviation hub meeting international standards in safety, efficiency and sustainability.
