Cambodia Electricity Building New 75-Megawatt Substation to Serve Industrial Zone
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 25, 2025) — Electricité du Cambodge (EDC) is constructing a 75-megawatt substation in Veal Rinh district to meet rising demand and supply power to industrial areas, according to Long Dimance, spokesman for Preah Sihanouk province.

Speaking at a forum on provincial development progress in the first half of 2025, Dimance said the new facility will serve the Special Economic Zone in Prey Nob district. He added that plans are also underway to build a 150-megawatt substation in O’Tracheak Chet to further expand capacity.
Preah Sihanouk currently has three power plants in operation, with a combined production capacity of 1,340 megawatts connected to the national grid.

Dimance said the province has 12 sources of electricity supply, producing a total of 884 megawatts, while actual consumption demand is only 357 megawatts.
He added that the electricity network now covers 100 percent of the province, supplying all 111 villages.
