PREAH SIHANOUK, Cambodia (Dec. 22, 2025) — Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol inspected newly completed production lines at the BYD Cambodia assembly plant Saturday, using the visit to underscore Cambodia’s ambitions as a safe and profitable investment destination.

Chanthol, who also serves as first vice chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, toured the facility inside the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone. He said the presence of BYD, a global industry leader, demonstrates Cambodia’s high potential for foreign direct investment and urged the company to share its positive experience with international business networks.

The deputy prime minister pledged that the government remains closely engaged and ready to provide comprehensive support to ensure investment success and sustainability. He said the CDC’s facilitation of BYD’s project would serve as a model for improving services to other investors.

Chanthol also encouraged BYD to strengthen Cambodia’s supply chain by sourcing local materials and expanding production processes at the plant. He said such steps would add value, transfer technological knowledge and create more jobs for Cambodian citizens.

Officials said the CDC will continue working with BYD to explore new investment opportunities aimed at boosting productivity for domestic and export markets.
