Cambodia Demands Global Response, Accuses Thailand of War Crimes in Border Strikes

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 11, 2025) — Cambodia on Thursday urged the international community to act against Thailand, accusing Thai forces of committing “war crimes against humanity” in a series of attacks on Cambodian territory.

Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, said Thai troops shelled the Khnar Temple area in Ouddar Meanchey province at 4:40 a.m., striking inside Cambodia’s 4th Military Region.

Hours later, she said, Thai forces fired into civilian areas of Prey Chan Village, O Bei Chon commune, Ou Chrov District in Banteay Meanchey province, hitting homes at 7:52 a.m.

Socheata described the strikes as “indiscriminate” and a violation of international humanitarian law, calling for urgent intervention by international institutions to halt what she labeled hostile actions against Cambodia.

The Defence Ministry said the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces continue to defend national sovereignty while supporting government efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully.

Officials also pressed Thailand to honor the ceasefire and Joint Declaration signed Oct. 26, 2025, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in his role as ASEAN chair.
