Cambodia Delivers Nearly $100 Million in Support to Pregnant Workers and Young Children in 2025

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec.4, 2025)— The Cambodian government has provided nearly $100 million in cash assistance to pregnant workers and children under age 2 as of November 2025, according to the National Social Security Fund.

Heng Sophannarith, NSSF deputy director-general and spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, said the government disbursed 399.64 billion riels ($99.7 million) to more than 1.4 million beneficiaries, including 690,034 mothers and 724,844 young children.

The program covers mothers before childbirth, during delivery and after delivery. Pregnant workers receive four rounds of assistance, each worth 80,000 riels. Childbirth support ranges from 80,000 riels per child to 160,000 riels for triplets, along with a 5 million-riel special bonus from Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen. After giving birth, mothers receive 10 additional payments of 80,000 riels tied to postpartum checkups and child vaccinations until the child turns 2.

Sophannarith said the initiative aims to strengthen maternal health, reduce child malnutrition and encourage families to access essential health services.

From January to November 2025, NSSF registered 663,212 new members, bringing total membership to 3,474,621. Women account for nearly 2 million members — a 30% increase from 2024.
